The Cardiovascular clinic is run by Sr Catherine
Steele. It offers annual "MOT" check-up appointments for patients suffering
from cardiovascular disease (diseases of the heart and blood vessels.)
Examples of patients seen in the clinic include patients who have:
- Ischaemic Heart Disease (angina, heart attack, heart failure)
- Cerebrovascular Disease (strokes)
- Peripheral Vascular Disease (hardening of the arteries in the legs)
The clinic has two main aims:
- to reduce the symptoms that patients experience as much as possible
- to reduce the risk of having a future heart attack or stroke
Appointments are by invitation. Patients who experience a change in
symptoms or side effects from their medication between these clinic visits
should make an appointment with a doctor during routine surgery.
Heart Failure
Patients with heart failure (where the pumping function of the heart is impaired)
will be offered six monthly appointments.
